Cmus: A Great Terminal Music Player

Cmus is a great terminal-based music player. It uses few resources, and plays a wide range of formats.

Keyboard shortcuts are documented in the man page, online here. Volume control via +/- keys is convenient.

Installation

I followed this step:

sudo apt-get install cmus

Library Setup

I'm used to players that take a list of files on the command line or scan the current folder. With cmus, you set up a library first, using this somewhat cryptic command in the UI:

:a ~/path-to-music
