The Dog Stars: Review

The Dog Stars is a riveting story of unexpected camaraderie and survival in a post-apocalyptic southwestern US. The protagonist is living at a small airport and a neighboring (empty) subdivision in Colorado. He and his one neighbor have survived an extremely deadly plague and are now fending off the occasional marauders.

The main character has a working small airplane, which he uses to survey the area and make small trips. As time goes by, he yearns for more human contact, which he eventually makes, for better or worse.

I highly recommend The Dog Stars. It has a great blend of apocalyptic bleakness, bonding, and survivalism. There's even a slight mystery crying out for a sequel.
