With a Mind to Kill: Review

With a Mind to Kill is Anthony Horowitz' third and (sadly) final James Bond novel. Unlike his other two, this is almost entirely original material, though clearly very influenced by Fleming originals. Now an experienced, scarred agent (both physically and mentally), Bond is clearly ready for a midlife crisis. But not before undergoing his most dangerous mission yet, trying to be a double agent under a Russian mind control doctor. The tone is bleaker, with Bond more aware of his own mortality.

These are now labeled as 'historical fiction', being set in the fifties. Be ready for some smoking and other behaviors that wouldn't be commonplace today.

With a Mind to Kill is a solid conclusion to Mr. Horowitz' enjoyable James Bond trilogy. The author clearly enjoyed his time spent adding to the series, and did so with care.
