8 May 2004 Stonegate Landscape Survey
Survey Area
During this survey we covered these areas:
- Between Stonegate and Carmenita
- North of Stagg in the Hills
- West of Wiscasset in the Hills
- Near Overland
- Between Penobscot and Wiscasset
Issues Identified
- Between Penobscot and Stonegate
- (Picture 1) Behind 7600 Penobscot the HOA-maintained hillside seems
to have recovered from previous underwatering. It is not
clear whether watering has been increased or whether other
factors contributed to its recovery.
- Between Stonegate and Carmenita
- (Picture 2) At the end of the swale near Stagg, on the Carmenita
side, a new pool is going in. The acacia are brown and
dead below the fence, and have been completely removed
above the fence in the next lot.
- (Picture 3) Behind 24623 Stonegate there is a bare spot
on the hill with only a few gazanias. Nearby lots too
have slight bare spots.
- (Picture 4) 7601 Carmenita has poplar tree volunteers
covering the hillside
- (Picture 5) 7627 Carmenita: The hill has been planted
with large plants but there is no low ground cover.
- (Picture 6) 7633 Carmenita: Poplar volunteers are
springing up like crazy.
- North of Stagg in the Hills
- (Picture 7) Looking south from the hills east of Stagg.
The HOA doesn't water here, apparently.
- West of Wiscasset in the Hills
- (Picture 8) Near Stagg, the entire swale is brown, weedy,
and grassy.
- (Picture 9) A few houses in from Stagg, the hill is weedy
and bare, next to a rich green section with purple flowers
growing well.
- (Picture 10) The grate behind the DWP area is locked
down, at last.
- (Picture 11) The top of the Wiscasset hillside has brown,
dry grass -- a fire hazard.
- Near Overland
- (Picture 12) Behind 24639 Overland, the HOA has a water
line in the LMA (landscape maintenance area), but it is
just watering weeds, which seems wasteful.
- Between Penobscot and Wiscasset
- (Picture 13) Behind 7511 Penobscot, at the end of the
swale, there is quite a bit of dead, brown acacia.
- (Picture 14) Behind 7519 Penobscot there is more dead,
brown acacia.
