Aptera has announced that as a result of their partnership with Launch Design, they will be able to achieve early production now at a major cost reduction. Previously this was estimated at up to $45 million, but is now estimated at $25 million.
With other EV makers taking investments in the billions, $25 million seems like a low bar. And with parts for the first 40 vehicles already on order, we should see Aptera autocycles rolling silently off the assembly line in Carlsbad by the end of the year.
The Aptera launch edition is currently expected to have:
- 400 miles range on a full charge
- California HOV access even for solo drivers
- NACS charging
- Air conditioning
- 2 seats
- Front-wheel drive
- Covered in solar panels: free range added anytime the sun is shining on the car (Recently measured at 4+ kWh per day on a sunny day)
