GNU/Linux on the HP EliteBook 8770w

The following describes my experience configuring GNU/Linux on the HP EliteBook 8770w.

Xubuntu 12.10

What Works

Widescreen 1920x1080 video
External Monitor (after installing and running arandr)
Ethernet at 1000 Mbps (1Gbps)
Full Battery life indicator, with warnings and auto-shutdown
USB
Touchpad, including:
- multi-touch: two-finger scrolling anywhere on the touchpad
- tap-to-left-click
- Dedicated Vertical Scroll Area
CD burner
Wireless Networks Detected
Bluetooth indicator shown

What Doesn't Work

Brightness control
Volume control

Power Consumption

The battery lasts about 3 hours at maximum brightness.

Trisquel 6.0

What Works
