Client/Server
Canoncial state resides on one system, the server
Clients can view portions of the state, make small changes
Usually no single client contains entire state
Useful for large amounts of state, when individuals only need to use a portion.
Server remote interface allows access to the state.
Examples: EMail, Traditional File Servers
