Secret Features of 2024 And 2025 Hyundai Ioniqs

If you have a 2024 or 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 or Ioniq 6, your car has a tremendous amount of features. Take a look at this list to see which ones you haven't tried yet. (Note: Some features depend on the trim level.)

Driver Only Mode for Heating / AC

On the Climate screen (press the Climate button on the dash to activate), there is a small button on the lower left that says, "Driver Only". This limits the heating or air conditioning exclusively to the driver. If you are alone in the car, this can potentially save some precious electricity, great for hypermiling or long trips.

Folding Mirror Button

On the dash to the left of the steering wheel is a small button above the mirror adjustment controls. It will fold in the side mirrors. Normally when you lock the car this happens automatically, but it can be useful when pulling in to a garage or a tight spot, and when leaving the car unlocked in an attached garage.

Auto-Open Trunk / Liftgate

If you have the key with you and you approach the rear trunk/liftgate, the car will beep and flash the lights for a few seconds, then automatically open. While it takes several seconds, if your hands are full with groceries it can be very convenient.

V2L

Vehicle to Load (V2L for short) is simply using your Ioniq to power other devices via an extension cord. Certain Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 models can provide significant power from the large drive battery, enough to power key appliances and internet routers for many days during a power outage, for example.

There are 2 ways to use this feature:

Plug an extension cord into the outlet in the back seat. This is easiest, but requires you to run a cord through a window or open door. It also requires the vehicle be on, which has a slight impact on battery life.
Buy a V2L adapter, and plug it into the charging port. This requires an extra purchase, but works when the vehicle is not fully powered on, extending battery life. It also allows you to leave the vehicle fully closed up, useful if it is parked outside.

Electrify America App for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay

If you use Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, and you use Electrify America for charging, you should add the Electrify America app. By launching the app from the car's display, you can find the nearest available stations while on-the-go, and start navigating to the one you choose, all without touching your phone.

Auto-Return to Android Auto / CarPlay

This minor improvement came in a software update in late 2024, so it may already be in your vehicle. Before the update, when changing the seat and steering wheel heating/ventilation, returning to Android Auto / CarPlay required an extra button press. After the update, the new seat heating/ventilation screen 'OK' button returns you directly to where you started, a minor but welcome improvement.
