Aurora: Review

Aurora begins with an apocalypse. Even with a half-day's warning of a record-breaking mass coronal ejection, the people of Earth are caught unprepared. Electronics and power grids fail. Life regresses hundreds of years.

Against this backdrop, the lives of an estranged brother and sister play out. The brother, a self-centered tech billionaire, thinks he has a doomsday plan prepared in every detail. The sister lives thousands of miles away and much more modestly in the suburbs. She has resisted help from her wealthy brother for years, but after an apocalypse, they find they both need each other.

Plenty of interesting characters and vivid descriptions of survival in two very different situations make Aurora a definite page-turner.
