Into The Forest: Review

The two sisters in Into The Forest have to survive threats of all kinds as society grinds to a halt in this modern day survivalist dystopia. They live on the outskirts of town with their father, largely isolated even before the world falls apart. Once food, gas, and money become scarce, the sisters have to learn to make it through with what they can grow and find. "Make it through" takes on different meaning as they try to figure out, with limited information, how long they need to survive on their own, and how to make their resources last.

One of my favorite things about this book is how the gradual decline of civilization is portrayed. The sisters learn to adapt to their world as their life plans and aspirations change.

In total, this is an engrossing and energizing story of family survival through hard work, creativity, and flexibility.
