Into the Mist: Review

Into the Mist by P.C. Cast is an interesting, richly drawn story of life in Oregon for a group of women who survive a strange, somewhat mysterious chemical warfare attack. The missiles not only cause massive physical damage, but they release a green mist that is almost universally deadly to men, but for some women causes enhancements to their abilities or senses. They form alliances, survive post-apocalyptic gangs, and try to make a comfortable environment in a badly damaged world. There are many familiar post-apocalyptic elements tinged with elements bordering on fantasy.

If you enjoy this book, consider the sequel Out of the Dawn (review here), which continues immediately where this book leaves off.

Into the Mist is a quick, fast-moving read. It's especially good for people who like their dystopias tinged with fantasy elements.
