The Night Agent: Review
The Night Agent by Matthew Quirk is not a dystopian novel, but it is intriguing and dark. Set in modern day Washington, a low-level White House security agent is surprised one night when the emergency phone he attends goes off, with a young woman on the other end in need of help. While technically above his pay grade, he uses his charm and smarts to help her stay safe, which turns out to be much harder than anticipated due to a fairly significant conspiracy they discover along the way.
This is a fun political/espionage thriller. The protagonist is smart and savvy, using his connections and wits to maneuver his way in a town filled with powerful people who suddenly see him as a threat. I recommend reading the book, if it's your cup of tea, watching the series made for TV.
