On the Isle of Antioch: Review

On the Isle of Antioch by Amin Maalouf veers between post-apocalyptic and a much more uplifting story. Without giving much away, the novel opens with loss of communication and power to a remote community consistent with an apocalyptic war. As the novel progresses, we learn more about who caused the situation and what they want. In the end, the novel explores limits on power, and how human motivation is driven by the limits of this mortal coil.

I found this book to be an entertaining read, with personal drama and interesting exploration of a post-apocalyptic world with a twist. I just wish a few more questions had been answered. Perhaps they'll be answered in a sequel, but I won't hold my breath.
