Poster Girl: Review

Poster Girl by Veronica Roth features a protagonist who is locked in a decaying ghetto along with other political prisoners. They were once part of the ruling party, but after a violent overthrow they have been locked away and largely forgotten. Other than meager meals and medicine deliveries they have no contact with the outside. When an old family friend turned enemy reaches out with a chance for freedom in return for her help, Sonya gets to experience the outside world again, and uncover more secrets than she bargained for.

Poster Girl is enjoyable on multiple levels. It describes an interesting dystopian world with some decay and failed technology. The tension and hostility between the former ruling class and the new government is dramatic. And the discoveries Sonya makes escalate to a dramatic conclusion.
