The Road tells a moving but wearying tale of a father and son plodding their way
across a gray, desolate america, struggling to survive the elements,
disease, and brutal survivors of a vague disaster that caused total
societal collapse.
The Road is many things
A father-son bonding adventure
A horror story of the atrocities desperate people can inflict
on each other
A thought piece on the meaning of life and civilization. Is it enough to
simply survive? Are your accomplishments meaningless without
others to share them with?
A cautionary tale about civilization-destroying war (likely nuclear)
Overall, The Road is pretty high on my list of dystopian novels.
